Who we are
The BSKT (theBSKT.ai) helps you see whether your Tesco or Sainsbury’s shop would have cost less at the other supermarket for the same basket.
What we collect on the waitlist
If you join the UK or international waitlist, we collect:
- First name
- Email address
- Main supermarket (UK form) or country (international form)
We use MailerLite to store waitlist sign-ups and send launch updates. We do not use waitlist data for unrelated marketing lists.
What we collect when you upload a receipt (invite-only preview)
Receipt upload at theBSKT.ai/upload is invite-only while we improve reading and comparisons. If you upload with consent, we process:
- Receipt photos you choose to upload
- Parsed basket lines (items and prices) produced by our reading pipeline
- Store and location hints you provide or that appear on the receipt
- A reference ID and scan summary (counts and totals) shown on the thank-you page
Upload requires a consent checkbox on the upload form that links to this notice. We do not show full product names on the public thank-you page in this preview.
This preview is rate-limited to reduce misuse. Personal cross-store savings results are not shown yet.
Why we use your data
- To email waitlist members about early access
- To improve Tesco and Sainsbury’s receipt reading (operational copies for review and quality work)
- To show cross-store savings at the other supermarket when that feature launches
We do not sell your shopping history for advertising.
How long we keep data
- Waitlist (name, email, supermarket): Until you unsubscribe or ask us to delete — stored in MailerLite for email delivery only.
- Uploaded receipts (photos and parsed lines): Stored securely in our cloud environment while we review scans and improve parsing. We keep operational copies only as long as needed for that work, then delete or anonymise when no longer required.
- Confirmed product data (future): After human review, we may store structured product and price data in our internal database to power comparisons. That step is not automatic today.
- Legal / tax records: Up to 7 years where UK law requires (e.g. tax or disputes).
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you may ask for access, correction, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and object to certain processing. Contact us using the email below.
Deletion requests
Email hello@thebskt.ai with the address you used to sign up or your upload reference ID if you have one. We will honour deletion unless we must keep specific records for legal reasons.
Third parties and subprocessors
We use the following categories of provider. Each processes data only as needed to deliver the service:
- MailerLite — waitlist email storage and delivery
- Google Cloud — hosts theBSKT.ai, stores upload bundles in private cloud storage, and runs Google Cloud Vision to read text from receipt images (images sent for OCR processing only as part of an upload you consented to)
- Anthropic — structures receipt text into basket lines after OCR (text only in our pipeline; not used for unrelated model training by us)
- Google Fonts — typography on this site; your browser may request fonts from Google
Processors operate under their own terms and data processing agreements. We choose providers appropriate for UK personal data handling.
